In June of 2007, my wife Sarah and I started a volleyball club in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania that we named Revolution Volleyball Club (www.revolutionvb.com).  We found that some others in the area shared the same vision we had and we were lucky enough to recruit some great coaches.  With the help of the local YMCA, we had a facility where we could practice some of the time.  In October of 2007, the revolution had officially begun with our boys tryouts.  We had two boys teams (16′s and 18′s) made up of all Chambersburg boys.  In November, we held our girls tryouts and ended up with 5 teams (18′s, 17′s, 16′s, 14 white, and 14 blue).

Thanks to the support of the players and their parents, the club is off to a great start.  We are always looking to do things better as a club but our primary focus will always be on teaching the players, developing the teams, and building community.  I created this blog to help build the community – within our club and with our friends outside the club.

I’ve never read a blog, let alone replied to one, so I thought I’d jump in with both feet….or hands in this case! Thank you, Mike and Sarah, for bringing club volleyball to our area-I hope it grows by leaps and bounds. It has been a great experience for our family. The coaching and knowledge that Olivia has received has been invaluable. The fact that the other coaches come to our practices and tournaments when they can, shows a high level of commitment.
Even though the 16′s haven’t won a tourney…yet…they work as a team and all get along real well. Hopefully, the Happy Volley Tourney will be just that for the 16′s- HAPPY!!!
